Q: What inspired you to come up with the concept of the Black Magic song and video?

Cremson:

Just being black in a time when being that alone can get you killed is something to sing about. I mean, the hate for us is so real you can taste it. I guess that means we’re fly.

Q: Who directed the Black Magic Video?

Cremson:

I directed the video.

Q: What sparked you to become an artist that has a message behind the music?

Cremson:

I was always an artist (coming from a musically inclined family) but the message I was hearing about my people wasn’t a very good one. On one side we’re wretched beings born in sin, and on the other we’re oversexed, money hungry, drug addicts with no respect for ourselves, women or children. I was always searching for a way to tell our story the way I experience it daily. A beautiful story.

Q: What are some of the messages you try to convey through your music?

Cremson:

Awareness and wellness mostly. I want the listener to find out who they are and then care enough about themselves to discover their purpose, and then make sure they do the right things to make it happen. I also convey love, but true love is a byproduct of the two former messages I’m sending out.

Q: What feedback do you get from your songs?

Cremson:

People love my music because it’s not fake. It comes from a real place. From a real person who experienced things in his songs. From someone who’s been working at the craft for a while, and it shows. If it’s one thing I know that can’t be denied is a good song- the body doesn’t lie, so
go ahead and tap your feet.

Q: If you got to pick one artist to work with, who would it be and why?

Cremson:

This is a tough one because there are so many artists that I would love to work with. However, I’d love to work with Tobe Nwigwe and the Originals because their music is on the same vibration as my own. And their just dope.

Q: What are some other inspirational and uplifting songs that you’ve created that you are proud of?

Cremson:

Get It Yourself, Can’t Keep From Falling, The Breath, Saying Nothing, R.I.C.H. I can keep going but that’s a quick top five.

Q: What do you do in your free time when you are not recording music?

Cremson:
I practice and teach martial arts and physical fitness. I love to read and cook- not always at the same time either. Honestly, even when I’m not recording, I’m doing something with music (e.g., singing to myself, playing the piano, thinking of a new song).

Q: Any new projects you are currently working on?

Cremson:

I’m always working on a new project. Black Magic is one piece of an album slated to be released later this year called Tulsa. We are already gearing up for the next project after that, featuring my beautiful wife, Zuri. But make sure you all look out for Tulsa droppings later this year.

Q: What advice do you have for uplifting black people through this pandemic?

Cremson:

Advice? I don’t know if I have any specific advice other than what people should already know. But if you’re tuning in and nobody told you, remember you heard it here first. Keep your distance. Limit your contact. Keep clean and sanitized. Eat healthier. Drink healthier. Exercise. Stop willfully polluting your mind and heart with garbage. Stop lying. That is all.

Q: What’s something your fans may not know about Cremson that you would like them to know?

Cremson:

That I love them, because if you vibe with me then we are truly family.
