Nicole Tiovanni- The Socialite and Tech Exec to Know!
Describe what you do for a living?
I’ve been described as a Professional Playmaker. People call me when they’re ready to get in the game- whether that be the Tech, Cannabis, Entertainment or Wellness game. By trade, I’m a Corporate Strategist- which means I give businesses and entrepreneurs the “play” (instructions) for success. I have a knack for taking a look at a concept or even an established business and increasing it’s value and adding viable streams of revenue. I’m the behind the scenes secret sauce what will be SOME of the most revolutionary concepts of our time.
How long have you been an entrepreneur?
I’ve been my own boss for the last 8 years. I’ve owned my current firm, 1925 Consulting, for almost 3 years and started my first company about 8 years ago. Although my current focus is my consulting firm- 1925 Consulting, I have a diversified portfolio that includes holdings in a variety of companies, including a spa called Sculpt Body Lounge which was the first brick and mortar business that I built in 2016.
We understand that you focus your expertise in certain industries, including Tech and Cannabis. Which industry would you say is your favorite and why?
I personally have fallen in love with the technology space. Being a black woman in Tech for the last 5 years has been an incredible learning experience and an honor. I first got my feet wet in the ecommerce industry in 2015, by working with Chewy.com which eventually ended up being purchased in the largest ecommerce acquisition in history. This showed me how much potential was in this space and how a phenomenal idea could change the world. I fell in love with the start-up space and began focusing my attention on advising in the start-up space. Recently I made the decision to dive even further into tech, by bringing on an in-house development team so that we can further facilitate the needs of our clients. This has been another major accomplishment for me!
How do you balance your work, love life, and family life?
It took me a while to learn how to really understand balance. For several years I was a complete workaholic, and my success was taking a major toll on my personal life. At one point I noticed myself getting burnt out and I knew that I had to make a change. I’m mommy to a 3 year old son and nothing is more important than to give him the best life possible, but also to see him grow old and successful. This wasn’t going to happen if I kept working myself to death. I also have a very close relationship with my Mom (who’s TOTALLY my backbone) and I wanted to be able to spend more time spoiling my mom and my son. So this year, I decided to shift my business model, bring on a dedicated development team, build an incredible Project Management team, and focus solely on business and mobile app development and launches. Delegation is key to building a balanced life! If it’s not your genius, it’s not your job! Pay others to do what they do best and work ONLY within your magic! (My advice for other CEO’s looking to scale!)
As for my love life, it hasn’t really been a huge focus of mine. I’m determined to retire before I’m 33 and sometimes dating can be a distraction. I’m definitely open to it, but my standards are extremely high and my expectations aren’t for the faint of heart LOL.
How do you feel about mixing business and pleasure?
To be honest with you, there was a time in my life when I wanted to do business with everyone I dated. It became a joke amongst my friends that I wasn’t interested in a “boyfriend”, and that I really wanted “a project”. Although they joked, I did help a few of my exes make their first 7 figures, so let’s just say my upgrade game was STRONG LOL. At this point in my life, I’m definitely a little more against mixing business and pleasure and would prefer a relationship that provided an escape instead of more work.
What’s your ideal date like?
As aggressive of a woman as I am, I always love a man that can take control. So for starters, he has to plan it. I always give As for effort! I also don’t believe that a man should show up anywhere empty handed. So he has to come correct! I’m all about ambiance and I’m a bit of a hopeless romantic, so somewhere with a good vibe is important. I travel for a living and have dined at some of the World’s best restaurants, so for me it’s not as much about where we go, as it’s about the thought that’s put into it. As long as we can vibe, laugh and get to know each other- I’m good. :)
What do you do in your free time?
One of my favorite past-times is giving back. I know it may sound a little corny, but nothing makes me happier than being a blessing to someone in need. I love to travel in my free time, and wherever I travel to I like to immerse myself in the culture. I’m not a fan of showcasing all acts of kindness on social media, so what people may not know is that I actually budget for charity- especially while on travel. God gave it to me to bless others and that’s what I’ll always be sure to do!
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
Something most people don’t know about me is that I grew up with a fear of numbers. I was the worst student in math class, and I damn near failed every standardized test in any math class. Because this was a shortcoming of mine, I was determined to master this area as an adult. The fact that I was able to go from a failing math student to crunching numbers in my 85th floor office in the Financial District in NYC shows you just how far determination can get you!
How is the work you’re currently doing going to impact the world?
My team and I are working on several groundbreaking projects that are going to redefine the industries that they’re in . We have software that is being developed in the fintech, cannabis, nightlife, plastic surgery , and even transportation space. If you’re an end user in any of those spaces, you are sure to feel the impact of our behind the scenes work within the next 6–12 months! I’m also releasing my next e-book “Cut The Check” on July 25th! That is CERTAINLY some game the world needs!!
